AVDEC provides independent audiovisual design and consulting services across industry sectors including: corporate; education; government; defence; assembly; retail; hospitality and entertainment sectors. Our services ensure that the acoustics, lighting, finishes and ergonomics of your facility contribute to the most effective and user-friendly experience for your staff and audience.

Rather than implementing the newest technology or following design trends, AVDEC is focussed on providing agnostic solutions based on the needs of the user. Our commitment to environmentally sustainable design practices is evidenced through our numerous “Five & Six GreenStar” projects.

About Our People

Peter Blackmore

Founder

Peter Blackmore founded Blackmore Audio Vision (BAV) in Melbourne, Australia. Having started out to provide high quality sound reinforcement and sound recording for conferences, BAV expanded with Audio and Video Rental, Staging and Production divisions. In 1987, he sold BAV and established AVDEC Audio Visual Consultancy, in order to concentrate on the design of permanently installed AV Facilities.

During this time, Peter was a committee member of the Audio Engineering Society, serving a number of roles organising the AES Regional Conventions held in Australia, culminating as the Melbourne Section Chairman and Convention Chairman. He received AES International Board of Governors Award in 1994. Having attended two ICIA InfoComm Professional Development Institutes in the USA, Peter received the CTS designation in 1989. For the next few years, he served on the Faculty of the Institute, and in 1998 ran the InfoComm Sydney Professional Development Institute, which was the first outside of the USA. In He was also asked to establish the Australian Chapter of the ICIA and was elected President. He was selected as an Adjunct Faculty member in 2013. He currently serves on the InfoComm Asia Pacific Regional Council, and AV Design Curriculum Regionalisation Group. Peter has been the AV Design Consultant on projects across a variety of industry sectors. He received the ICIA Crystal Achievement Award in 1991 for innovation in Systems and Facilities Design. He has been an invited lecturer in the USA, Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia, and was an international contributor to Sound & Video Contractor magazine for a number of years.

Belinda Jones

Technology Specialist

Belinda Jones has worked at AVDEC since 2012. She started as an Administration Assistant and now has duties which include: AutoCAD 2016 Operator; Documentation including User Acceptance Test Plans; Field testing for User Acceptance Testing and Certification; Specification documentation. Belinda is responsible for the Health & Safety program and also the Quality Assurance system.
